With the summer bushfire season ahead, Silvan Australia has released a new fully equipped 600 Litre capacity Fire Fighting Unit with all fittings and services mounted on a galvanized slip on frame.
The unit is designed to be carried on the farm utility or trailer to provide a first response to a fire outbreak, for an emergency wash down, or equally as a convenient means of transferring water when needed.
Based on a 600 litre capacity Polytuff barrel shape the tank with a sump is strong, highly durable and ultra-violet stabilised for a long life under prolonged outdoor exposure.
The tank design includes a large 255mm screw filler cap with a drain bung with the sump for emptying or clearing the contents.
The unit is supplied with a proven Honda engine and Davey pump set combination designed to give about two hours of running time on a full tank of 3.6 litres of unleaded fuel.
The Honda engine is a four stroke 5.5 horsepower with manual recoil start and with low oil protection.
The Davey pump has a maximum output of 425 litres per minute at a maximum pressure of 80 PSI.
The Silvan 600 Litre Firefighting Unit is supplied with a heavy-duty poly coated steel hose reel with guiding rollers and a hose stop and is fitted with a 30 metre length of 19 mm inside diameter hose and an adjustable spray nozzle.
Compact and with an unladen weight of 140kg the complete unit is housed on a galvanized steel skid frame with pickup handles fitted that double as tiedown points to secure the unit to a vehicle tray or similar.
Additional features include a dam fill hose kit with six metres of hose fitted with a filter and a three-way valve that enables a change of the pump suction position from the tank to a dam source of water, with a second one-way valve enabling delivery of water from the pump into the tank.
The new Silvan 600 Litre Fire Fighter has practical and easy to use features and as a self-contained unit is always popular with owners of larger properties, the pastoral sector and emergency services and land managers who recognise that a convenient readily available water and hose distribution source can provide the best response at the earliest stages of an emergency or fire event.
